From the time Larry was old enough to caddy at the neighborhood golf course, he lived by ambitious principles: embrace hard work, strive for success, keep learning, and create opportunities to deliver excellence. Today, in his role as President of Summit Performance Associates and as a Vistage Chair, Larry still lives by those principles.
With over 14,000 hours’ experience working behind closed doors with CEOs and business owners, Larry has unparalleled understanding of the challenges, concerns, and roadblocks they face. With this unique point of view, he knows there are no wholly unique problems, no single solution that works for all, and no reason why leaders cannot achieve success.
Larry entered the professional world as a sales associate, after earning a Chemical Engineering degree from West Virginia University in 1971. His sales achievements carried him upward through the ranks, into notable positions at Union Carbide Corporation, Burgess Pigment Company, Air Products and Chemicals, and finally Waddell & Reed, where he worked as a Division Manager. In 1980, Larry began his transition into the world of personal finance, working as a Certified Financial Planner for five years. In 1990, he began his work at Summit Performance Associates, a post he’s passionately occupied for 23 years. As a Vistage Chair, Larry has earned the following distinctions from Vistage International:
- Six-time Chair Excellence Award Winner
- Two-time Master Chair Award Winner
- Two-time Pacesetter Award Winner
- Two-time Star Award Winner
- Member of the President’s Chair Advisory Board, 3 years
A well-rounded and community-minded individual, Larry has many interests:
He is an active member of the Rotary Club of Dunwoody, serving as President from 2009-2010. He is a Certified Specialist of Wine, a certified instructor in Fierce Conversations, and owns three successful childcare franchises. He has also been a columnist for the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
When not spending time with his three children and ten grandchildren, Larry can be found on the green, striving to lower his score in competitive golf.
